Overcoming adversity through Mushin Karate

Two students from Mushin Karate successfully passed there grading. Local boys Patrick Hackett and Ryan McKenna Kershaw exceeded all expectations by passing with flying colours their first Mushin Karate grading. An achievement in itself, however, with autism and Cerebral Palsy this is no mean feat. Not to allow this to stand in their way, the boys trained for three months for the grading with no complaints or hassles. Training twice a week and sometimes three times per week shows the dedication and motivation that the boys have for their martial arts. A long way to go in their training, but a very promising start and a shining example to us all.

Ciaran “The Phantom” McDowell successfully passed his yellow belt exceeding the standards that have been set before him. Basic technique and combinations, coupled with footwork, stance, co-ordination were demonstrated to a good level, which resulted in the pass. A photograph would have been attached except for the fact that he was nowhere to be seen come the of day of the picture but this was probably down to the fact that it was our tough Sunday Sessions, and he was out the night before.

Congratulation to those participants who passed their grading.
